I live in Beijing for 5 years already and I have to say, biking through the main sightseeing places and cutting through the hutongs was the best relaxing / convenient / amusing / less tiring :) way to discover or re-discover the great places of the center of BJ.
I highly recommend this way of visiting for pple who only have a limited time to discover the city : biking makes you feel the atmosphere of the city much better, and the Biking Beijing Tour team is great and very helpful. The guide was very adaptable, very nice and chill ;)

My wife and I booked a 5 hours tour and enjoyed exploring Beijing on a bicycle. The tour-guide spook perfect English and explained the rich history of the places we visited on the tour. We were able to stop at any point on the tour and take pictures. The tour guide also took pictures from us on the bicycles, which the company loads to a web-server. You will receive an email with a link to the pictures after the tour, which I find is a nice value-added service. We can only recommend doing a tour on a bicycle to explore the places off the main tourist paths. Schenectady
My 12 year old daughter and I took the bike trip through Beijing, the hutongs, the Olympic park with George, who also took us on a truly wonderful, inspiring and lovely ride to the Great Wall. George is an awesome tour guide and person. He was knowledgeable about the areas, knew how ot pace the ride and was perfectly safe. His english is outstanding as are his business ethics. We really, really enjoyed our time on the bikes and I felt it also gave myself and my daughter much needed exercise on our trip...especially my daughter. It is a trip she can still recall with enthusiasm and wonder.
My husband and I did two one day tours with Bike Beijing. David showed us old Beijing. It was a terrific way to see the city and David was extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. A couple of days later we went out to the Great Wall with George and after a great ride through the countryside we had lunch at an excellent local family restaurant and then scaled the wall. Fantastic views and expert commentary about the history. Bike Beijing avoid the usual tourist traps and give you Beijing direct! Unfamiliar traffic rules and conditions make a guide essential and such expert ones a bonus.
Had an awesome time with Bike Beijing. Did two tours, the full day city tour and the full day Great Wall. City tour is great if you have limited time, a good mix of walking and riding and despite huge traffic, felt completely safe. You can do it cheaper but a one on one or one on 3 trip beats the massive impersonal groups of 20 following a flag around. Great Wall trip is once in a lifetime experience, you go to an original remote part of the wall with no tour buses, hot dog vans or Starbucks in sight. In fact I only saw about 5 other people on the wall!! AWESOME - do it !!
Went on two tours - Imperial tour and Olympic village. David our guide was brilliant throughout pointing out places of interest and showing us place you would never see without local knowledge.
Would thoroughly recommend this as the best way to get around the city and see the sights.
Went on an 3hr imperial bike tour with David and two other people that had organised a tour.
Our guide was flexible and took us through a few hutongs along the way - stopping whenever we wanted to try snacks or look at things.
Would recommend this as the best way to see central Beijing - the city is too spread out to visit on foot.
This was the best investment I could have made to see the most of the Beijing in 3 hours. The inner citty is ver big walking any of the many sights we visited would have taken hours. The fact we were able to visit all the sights in such a short time was great. Our guide (Sean) was very friendly and experienced. Bikes well maintained.
The cost was bit too much, so would be great if they reduced their rates in the future.
I would definitely recommend Bike Beijing. The tour company was very professional and this was a MUCH better way of seeing the Hutongs than just walking them yourself or taking a rickshaw. The rickshaw riders looked bored while we were out exploring and had a blast. Our guide was knowledgable and fun and even took us for lunch to a local place that was delicious and definitely NOT in the tour books. As an added bonus, the company emailed us great pictures from our trip! |
