About our Hostel
The Zhaolong International Youth Hostel was the first youth hostel to open in Beijing and is famous for its location and atmosphere. The Zhaolong International Youth Hostel is a member of the YHA and accepts and can issue membership cards.
The Zhaolong International Youth Hostel has 4- and 6-bed dorms and double/single rooms. The lobby area is nice and bright and is a place for meeting the other guests and the Zhaolong International Youth Hostel is know for its very social atmosphere.
Within walking distance
The Zhaolong International Youth Hostel is located on the 3rd Ring Road in the Chaoyang District of Beijing.
In less than five minutes walk it is possible to reach the SanLiTun Road or better know as 'THE Bar Street'. In this 'Bar Street' it is possible to find some of the best bars and restaurants (including not only the Boys & Girls Club and Jazz-Ya).
The Zhaolong International Youth Hostel is located next to the Pacific Century Place which is a paradise for real brand clothing (international brands). The Pacific Century Place also contains many nice restaurants and a supermarket which stocks Chinese and American/European products at fair prices.
If you want to buy some 'brand' clothing at cheaper prices the famous YaShow Market is only 5 minutes walk from the Zhaolong Hostel and it is know that there is some good bargains to be found here.
The Zhaolong International Youth Hostel is located within one of the 3 Beijing Diplomatic areas and there are many Embassies including the Australian, German and French Embassy.
To the East of the Zhaolong International Youth Hostel is Beijings largest park the Chaoyang Park to which you can easily walk within 15 minutes. Around the South and West gate of the Chaoyang park you will also again be able to find some of Beijings most famous and best bars, restaurants and nightclubs including The Big Easy, Latinos and many more.
The nearest Subway station is located at Dong Si Shi Tiao and can be walked to in 20 minutes (or of course easily be reached by bus).
Rooms
There are 6, 4 and 2/1 person rooms available in the Zhaolong International Youth Hostel and each room has separate lockable luggage cabinets. Bed sheets are available for daily change. Some rooms also have air conditioning for hot Summer months and all rooms are fitted withheaters for the Winter.
Facilities & Services
The Zhaolong International Youth Hostel has a bar which serves breakfast (10RMB) from 7am to 10am and in which you can watch your newly bought DVDs and listen to CDs. You dont have to leave the building to buy your beverages (including beer) or snacks as these are cheaply sold by the hostel itself. If you feel like some proper food the hostels staff is more than willing to order you some food which will be delivered to the hostel at no extra cost.
The entertainment room has a cable TV so you can keep yourself up-to-date with CCTV9. There is also a small Internet cafe where you can surf online for a fair price of 10RMB per hour. There is also laundry room where you can machine wash your cloths.
There are toilets (also Western-style available) and showers on every of the six floors and they have hot water 24/7. If you have valuables which you do not want to leave in your room there are lockers available in the lobby and for very special items a locker room which is only accessible by members of the hostels staff.
It is also possible to book trips in the hostel to destinations like the Great Wall (90RMB) or the Summer Palace. If you plan on traveling on you can also comfortably book your next hostel and flight or rail tickets from the in-house travel agency.
If you fancy going out for a cycle you can hire a bike from the hostel for only 30RMB(/day) and independently cycle Beijings many roads.
If you dont want to worry about getting to and from the airport there is a airport pick-up (140RMB) and take service (100RMB). This will safe you from being ripped off by the many taxi drivers trying to catch the incoming tourists and offering there services for 'as low as' 300 or 400 RMB.
Location
The Zhaolong International Youth Hostel is located behind the Zhaolong Hotel which is on the corner of North Workers Stadium Road (Chinese: Gong Ti Bei Lu) and the East 3rd Ring Road (Chinese: Dong San Huan). This means it is located within the easy to reach Chaoyang Business District (CBD).
To get to the Zhaolong International Youth Hostel by public transport is easy. From the airport you can take the bus numbered 3 directly to the Zhaolong Hote. From the Beijing Train Station or Beijing West Train Station you can take the bus number 703. Otherwise theZhaolong International Youth Hostel can be easily found by taking the Subway (Ring line / Line 2) to DongSiShiTiao and then walking to the east (20min) down North Workers Stadium Road passing the Asia Hotel, Workers Gymnasium and Workers Stadium and finally reaching the Zhaolong Hotel behind which the Zhaolong International Youth Hostel is located. Instead of walking you could also take the bus (any of number 113, 115 and 406).
Most Beijing taxi drivers will know the Zhaolong Hotel (Chinese: Zhaolong Fandian, see below for Chinese address card).
From the Zhaolong International Youth Hostel it is not far to the Subway which grants fast & easy access to most tourist attractions like the Forbidden City at the Place of Heavenly Peace (Subway Line 1 TianAnMen) which is only about 6km from the hostel.
